Severe lightning in the afternoon on July 27 damaged many electric and electronic wares in households in the resort city of Da Lat, in the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong.

Hundreds of people flocked into the street after one particular earth-shaking explosion, while household appliances like computers, lights, TV sets, radios, telephones, etc. were blown out.

The lightning storm caused the interruption of internet connection, fixed phone and TV cable services, etc. on a wide scale in the city.

According to the Da Lat Hydrometeorology Station, lightning struck many positions in the city but the station couldn’t measure the intensity.

The station said it is rare to have lightning in Da Lat in the rainy season like this. Lightning often comes in April and May.
