Sapa is a small town in Lao Cai Province, next to Hekou, China. Sapa is about 300 km from Hanoi and 38 km from Lao Cai Train Station. Sapa is a famous destination for travelling, adventure mountain climbing and trekking holidays. Sapa is at the height of 1.500 metres and this makes Sapa has just perfect weather for relaxing holidays in Vietnam. In summer, the temperature is from 18 to 28 degree in Sapa. In the rainy days, it is a bit colder in Sapa. In the winter time, the temperature can drop till zero degree in Sapa and snow sometimes may come. Sapa is the home of five- different minority groups: H’mong, Red Zao, Zay, Tay and Xa Pho People. Most of minority live along Muong Hoa Valley in Sapa. They all come to Sapa Town for weekend markets and Sapa becomes more interesting than ever. The market opens every day in Sapa but on Sunday, it is extremely exciting when the minority people coming to Sapa Market for selling, buying and meeting their friends. Sapa owns truly unique landscapes of rice terraces and it offers the most stunning view of Vietnam. The best time to see rice terraces in Sapa is middle of August to the end of September as the rice is ready for harvesting and it all turn yellow. This is an amazing picturesque view of Sapa and its villages. With is gorgeous countryside and mountains, Sapa is great for trekking holidays. Sapa offers variety trekking routes to villages. You can choose the trekking tour from on day up to 6 days to minority villages and stay overnight in a local home with friendly and pleasant family. Sapa is not only the place for trekking holidays, but it is also the destination for mountaineering tours in Vietnam. Sapa has the highest mountain in Vietnam, Fanxipan. With the height of 3.143 meters, Fanxipan is called the “Roof of Indochina”. Fanxipan is great challenge for adventurous travellers. To climb up to the top of Fanxipan, travellers need from two to three days and spending one or two nights in the tents in the jungle. Today, sapa is developing very fast with new hotels, restaurants, shops but sapa still can keep its unique and charming characters of a mountain town, especially its minority people. Sapa is definitely a great destination for your holidays while travelling to Vietnam and you will surely have great holidays as you come to Sapa. |
