Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is a large memorial to the Vietnamese leader. It is located in Ba Ðình Square in hanoi. Ba Đình Square is the name of a famous square in Ha Noi where president Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence of Vietnam on September 2, 1945. Ho Chi Minh's body is preserved here and the mausoleum is open for people to come and pay their respects. The mausoleum's design is similar to the Lenin's mausoleum in Moscow. Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum was started building on 2nd September, 1973 and finished on 29th August, 1075. Vietnamese Government organized a designing contest in Vietnam to select the best design for Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. The doors and windows of Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum are made of precious wood from the South of Vietnam and designed by talented carpenters from Thanh Hoa, Nghe An provinces. The marble stones used to build the mausoleum were also selected carefully from centre of Vietnam. Around Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is the garden with precious trees donated by people from all parts of Vietnam as their respects and loves to Ho Chi Minh President. From the date Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum started opening for public visitors, almost 25 million people have visited Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum till now. From 1996, about 10.000 people visit the mausoleum every day. Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum opens for visiting only in the morning, closes on Monday and Friday. For Vietnamese, visit Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum is a cultural need to pay the respects to their president. Ho Chi Minh President was born on 19th May 1890 in Nghe An Province, central of Vietnam. He was born to the family of patriots. His father was a mandarin under Nguyen Dynasty. His mother was a farmer. He had an elder sister, Nguyen Thi Thanh and an elder brother, Nguyen Sinh Khiem. Ho Chi Minh left Vietnam on 5th June, 1911, looking for the independence for Vietnam. After 30 years of learning and living outside of Vietnam, he returned to his homeland on 28th January, 1941. Ho Chi Minh President leaded Vietnam to the success of August revolutionary in 1945 and declared independence for Vietnam on 2nd September, 1945 at Ba Ding Square. Ho Chi Minh President died on 2nd September, 1969 at 9 hour, 47 minutes. Ho Chi Minh was the first President of Vietnam. He had great love to Vietnamese and his own country. Ho Chi Minh spent all his life and time for Vietnam. He leaded very simple life. While he was president, he did not eat more than an ordinary people. Ho Chi Minh took great care people and was willing to share his warm clothes, his food to his safeguards and Vietnamese respect him more than any other leaders for his great manners. All Vietnamese call him uncle as they consider him as a member of their families. |
