Siem Reap has colonial and Chinese-style architecture in the Old French Quarter, and around the Old Market. In town, there are Apsara dance performances, craft shops, silk farms, rice-paddy countryside, fishing villages and a bird sanctuary near the Tonle Sap Lake. It is the gateway city for nearby Angkor Wat. Siem Reap today, being a popular tourist destination, has a large number of hotels and restaurants. Most smaller establishments are concentrated around the Old Market area, while more expensive hotels are located between Airport and Siem Reap town.

The name Siem Reap means the 'Defeat of Siam' —today’s Thailand —and refers to a centuries-old bloodbath, commemorated in stone in the celebrated bas relief carvings of the monuments. In 1901 the École Française d'Extrême Orient (EFEO) began a long association with Angkor by funding an expedition to the Bayon. In 1907 Angkor, which had been under Thai control, was returned to Cambodia and the EFEO took responsibility for clearing and restoring the whole site. In the same year, the first tourists arrived in Angkor - an unprecedented 200 of them in three months. Angkor had been 'rescued' from the jungle and was assuming its place in the modern world.

With the return of Angkor to Cambodian, or French, control in 1907, Siem Reap began to grow, absorbing the first wave of tourists. In 1975, the population of Siem Reap, along with that of the rest of the cities and towns in Cambodia, was evacuated by the communist Khmer Rouge and driven into the countryside.

Day 1: Phnom Penh
Upon arrival, transfer to your hotel in Phnom Penh. Pre-trip meeting with your guide. Visit the Silver Pagoda, Royal Palace, National Museum and Independent Monument. Enjoy welcome dinner in a restaurant. Overnight in hotel in Phnom Penh.

Day 2: Phnom Penh – Siem Reap – Angkor Thom
After breakfast, transfer to Airport for flight to Siem Reap. Check in your hotel in Siem Reap. Take a tour to Angkor Thom. Visit the South Gate of Angkor Thom, Bayon, Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, Elephant Terrace and Terrace of the Leper King. Lunch at local restaurant. Visit marvelous temples; Ta Tromh, Neak Pean, Angkor Wat. Enjoy gorgeous view of sunset in Angkor from Bangkeng Hill. Transfer back to Siem Reap by road. Overnight in hotel. (Breakfast)

Day 3: Siem Reap – Angkor Wat
After breakfast, transfer to Angkor Wat. Visit of a selection of temples, including the Royal City of Preah Khan with impressive sculptures, Neak Pean built on a small circular island, Ta Som, East Mebon, Preah Rup. In the afternoon, we will continue our visit to the Thommanon temple, Ta keo, one of Angkor's great mountains temple, Ta Prohm with a part of the jungle, Banteay Kdei, Srah Srang a Royal bathing place, Prasat Kravan with unique brick sculptures. Transfer back to your hotel. Enjoy farewell dinner. Overnight in hotel in Siem Reap. (Breakfast)

Day 4: Airport
Transfer to Siem Reap airport by road. Trip concludes. (Breakfast)
